Mike Rohde – Mike retired from corporate life in 1997 to focus on the restoration of the William Miller House Bed and Breakfast. Always a very technical person by vocation, he eagerly applied his technical aptitude to other hobbies like renovations, woodworking and cooking. In retirement, Mike and his wife Pat have traveled extensively in Europe, always tasting and enjoying the cuisine of the countries visited and adapting entrees and desserts to breakfast dishes for the Inn. Mike has taken several cooking classes in France and scours the local markets for ingredients or ideas to bring home for his guests. His recipes have been published in several cookbooks, including Best Recipes from American Country Inns and Bed and Breakfasts, Sleep on It and The Bed and Breakfast Association of Virginia Cook Book, both first and second editions. Mike has also been a guest speaker at Virginia Bed and Breakfast Conference is the the past years. Mike also has a cook book on Apple Books that he wrote for his presentation to the association tilled Breakfast, Breakfast Everywhere. Mike and Pat closed the successful William Miller House Bed and Breakfast in 2012 and moved to Mathews Virginia in 2017 to raise chicken and enjoy the Chesapeake Bay area, while still continuing to travel in Europe. Mike is still an advise cook and spend time honing his Sous Vide skills.
